Carbonated Beverage Processing Line
A carbonated soft drink line where deaerated water, accurate syrup blending and isobaric filling together hold carbonation and flavour within specification.
Key Specifications
| Capacity | 2,000 / 6,000 / 12,000 / 24,000 bottles per hour |
|---|---|
| Carbonation | 2.0-5.0 volumes CO2 |
| Water treatment | RO plus deaeration to 0.05 mg/L O2 |
| Blending | Inline ratio control, ±0.5 percent |
| Filling | Isobaric counter-pressure, PET or glass |
| Product temperature | 2-6 degrees C at filler |
| Filling accuracy | ± 2 ml on 500 ml |
Deaerated water is the hidden quality factor
Dissolved oxygen oxidises flavour compounds and drives foaming at the filler, which slows filling and causes short fills. Deaeration to 0.05 mg/L is standard on any line above 6,000 BPH for a reason.
Inline blending versus batch
Inline ratio control blends syrup and water continuously, which removes the batch tank, cuts changeover to minutes and holds Brix within 0.1 degrees. Batch blending is cheaper to buy and far more expensive to operate on multiple SKUs.
Isobaric filling protects carbonation
Filling under counter-pressure means the product never sees atmospheric pressure, so CO2 stays in solution. Volumetric filling without counter-pressure loses carbonation and produces foaming that limits line speed.
Typical Applications
- CSD bottlers with multiple flavours — Inline blending makes short runs economic and cuts changeover losses.
- Sparkling water and flavoured water — The same line runs zero-sugar products with different carbonation levels.
- Contract bottling — Fast changeover between SKUs is the margin driver in contract work.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my line foam at high speed?
Almost always dissolved oxygen or product temperature above 6 degrees C. Check deaeration and chiller performance before adjusting the filler.
Can I fill cans and PET on the same line?
With change parts, yes. The filler is shared; the seamer or capper differs.
How much CO2 do I lose per 1,000 L?
Under 1.1 kg with isobaric filling versus 1.6-2.0 kg on a non-counter-pressure filler.
